Author Topic: False alarms do you think your hearing a pirate then its something else?  (Read 1422 times)

I thought I was hearing a pirate afew weeks ago turned out to be radio stoke had taken to playing some reagae, wonder how common this is, do you tune to something think it is a pirate?.

I’ve not heard any pirates ones from the nearest cities here since 2021, dosen’t seem like any will come back now.  I supose the signal might be abit ropey on a bbc local radio station traveling a long distance, might be playing something you’d not normally hear.
I was going to post this over on radionecks too, seems like theres noone over there too, do hear alot of talk of building transmitters but nothing gets heard.

Aew months I thought I was hearing something interesting down there on 88.2, playing brit pop, signal was there for a while stereo sign there but not overly strong, then you could tell this was in a car tx, you got that tell tail fluttering. I think what made me think it was something albert’s talked about something been set up in the pennines in the past, they’ll problalby say nothing is there

Not very often these days, the station I could here has gone off for about 3-4 weeks now. I cannot hear much at all these days.
Maybe a bit more on MW though but often it is an evening time international broadcaster.

I thought I was hearing another afew weeks ago, I was thinking of a combination of things, I watched a video about the laughing policeman jammer on ham bands, lot of times in the past you’d hear hams driving about with fluttery signal, listening to the repeater, the jammer would be mobile too. I don’t think they ever found the jammer in the video just though it was someone in a transit with a big aerial on the roof. It did make me think of that scene at the end of pump up the volume were he starts transmitting from a van, you never hear of it happening with fm with someone driving around with their own station. The fluttery signal of this eskip signal on 87.9 playing a remix of effiel 65 blue made me imediately think of someone driving round in a van, you could imagine it.
