Just clarifying my post, 3 miles each way from the antenna roughly speaking, 6 miles total coverage, although I think I have a quite good rx antenna and radio in the car as a friend
did not pick it up quite as good. I just made a coil out of ordinary cheap CCA speaker wire. put 35 turns on a 6 inch waste pipe and 12-13m vertical wire... use white plastic only. Black seems not to work well with RF probably more lossy dye or something) Then tap the coil the more 10-12m radials the better. SWR 1.2:1 no problems at all 30 loops seems to be enough inductance.
Its a ground mounted coil loaded GPA - 1/4 wave vertical... albeit very, very short for the frequency.
Was a good fun test but realistically not going to continue with it as it was a lot of effort to do.
If you want to do a Blackbeard you really want to have a better antenna than a coil loaded vertical. It is very inefficient but was fun just to tick a box.
Something for a mess around when you have time on your hands.
