I finally looked at the peel sessions

After reading about someone retransmitting them, the music is not my cup of tea to be honest, I suppose the talking is alittle funny, bit like waffle ;D might be someone elses cup of tea, get your pedal pushers on maybe bike reflectors on back in 1979  :D

Or8 Northeast... I remember a few years ago the 106.9 fm thing in Sheffield was playing a lot of John peel recordings and yeah, it wasn't brilliant tbh...
I remember being about 12 or 13 ( 85-86) listening to John peel with the finger on the pause button.. Used to record the brand new hiphop tunes.. I can also remember the happy mondays being played too, might have been a year or two later though and lots of other indie music which i wasn't 'feeling' at that point in time...

Interesting I never though he’d do hip hop, I remember taping the top 40, trying to get blue monday from the top 100, there’s no other way still rings round in my head from that time, once had a jesus jones album about as indie as it gets, the 2nd track sounds abit technoy, international bright young things was a good song.


I wonder if the people who did pirate radio in sheffield are still around, maybe alittle tx near were they live, leverton towers might bright them back out. simliar to the peel sessions but their own shows  ;D
